Heard some rumors floating around the web of new Strymon pedals coming out soon? Something to do with MIDI and additional features, perhaps? Well folks, wonder no more! The day many of you, and all of us here at Strymon, have patiently awaited for is upon us.
We’re beyond stoked to present to you the new and improved next-generation versions of blueSky, El Capistan, Flint, Deco, DIG, and Lex.
This new generation features added controls for each pedal, full MIDI implementation that allows for control over all parameters and up to 300 presets, as well as hardware upgrades such as an external Input switch to determine between mono or TRS stereo input, and an all-analog JFET front end that gives increased responsiveness and dynamic feel. Everything you know and love about the previous versions was kept, and taken to the next level with added control and functionality!
Order yours today here at strymon.net, or reach out to your local dealer to try one out in person 🙂
Check out each pedal in depth below:
blueSky — Ultimate Reverb Bliss.
The pedal that revolutionized compact reverb pedals has evolved. Plug into blueSky for the most lush, majestic reverbs imaginable. Transform a single note or chord into vast sonic atmospheres with impossibly gorgeous, incredibly long reverb tails. Hear the inspiring splash of an upgraded spring algorithm dripping with vintage vibe. Lose track of time and space as you interact with deep and expansive new Shimmer sounds never heard anywhere before.
El Capistan — Vintage Echo Machine.
Plug in, play a note or chord, and you feel it: All the warm, saturated, distinctive qualities and subtle nuances of vintage tape echo combine to instantly create an unmistakable atmosphere. El Capistan provides three different tape machine types in one pedal, each with three unique modes and extensive control over tape quality, machine health and tone shaping. Go from the full-range sonic stability of a fresh-from-the-factory echo machine, to the heavily fluctuating sound of a road-worn unit in need of service.
Flint — Iconic Effects Pairing.
Flint gives you the pulsating, soothingly hypnotic effects pioneered in vintage amplifier tremolo circuits, along with three classic and completely unique reverb algorithms. We carefully studied our favorite classic tremolo and reverb circuits, examined the sonic complexities and faithfully accounted for every detail in our hand-crafted algorithms. Flint is two pedals in one, with tremolo on one half and reverb on the other, capable of instantly transporting you to some of the warmest tones of yesteryear.
Deco – Mid Century Maverick.
Deco takes you back in time, giving you vintage tape effects from the earliest recording studios, right on your pedalboard. Deco’s Tape Saturation smooths out your sound with familiar and delicious tape compression and saturation, while fattening your tone with subtle tape-driven transparent overdrive. The Doubletracker provides the power to shift your sound in many ways, easily allowing you to achieve syrupy slapback tape echoes, psychedelic tape flanging, and gorgeous tape chorusing sounds.
DIG — Dual Digital Delay.
DIG unearths the true soul of digital delay and doubles it — two simultaneous, integrated delays with captivating rack delay voicings from the 1980s and today, for incredible expressive potential. Effortlessly create your own world of intricate and synchronized echoes, along with hypnotic and atmospheric repeats that blur the line between delay and reverb. Stretch your sonic horizons with five musically satisfying rhythmic subdivisions and three dual delay routing options. Go from syncopated, pulsating delay patterns, to evocative, spaced-out echo trails, all in a compact, pedalboard-friendly format.
Lex — The Complete Rotary Speaker Experience.
Lex provides you with a complete, accurately reproduced rotary speaker system: the low-frequency bass rotor, the rotating treble horn, the tube-driven amplifier, finely tuned microphone placement, and all the complex sonic interactions between these elements. Powerful, intuitive controls mean you can quickly dial in just the customized sound you desire.
What’s New For The Line:
The new pedals – DIG, Flint, El Capistan, Deco, Lex and blueSky – are updated versions of some of Strymon’s most popular models, and now feature a USB-C connection for updating firmware and MIDI communication, a TRS MIDI jack for bidirectional MIDI communication, full stereo inputs and outputs with a rear-panel Mono/Stereo switch, a premium JFET input circuit for the ultimate in tone and touch response, robust MIDI implementation allowing MIDI clock sync and onboard storage for up to 300 presets, and a powerful new ARM processor that has more power and consumes less energy than previous iterations. The user interface for each pedal has also been updated to provide easier and deeper control of important parameters, allowing users to get to their favorite (and undiscovered) sounds faster and easier than ever before.

I recently purchased the, El Capistan, Blue Sky and am expecting a delivery of the Flint. Do I own the old or new versions?? I ask cause I would hate to think I bought these expensive pieces unaware there were upcoming improved versions. I will return the Flint that I expect this Friday if this is the case.
Hi Rudolfo, we only started selling these V2s on June 28th, 2022. If you purchased yours from us or a dealer any time before that, you have the previous generation. We offer a 30 day return policy on all our direct store orders, so we’re happy to return those if you’d like to upgrade. If from a dealer, please contact them directly for their return policy.
Feel free to email us at [email protected] with any more questions!
I would like to know if the sound quality of Bluesky V2 is equal to Bigsky. I want to buy one of them and Bigsky seems to have a lot of features I don’t need. However, I would like to have the best sound quality possible.
Totally the same great sound quality! It definitely just depends on the features that you want. If you prefer the smaller and simpler form factor and UI, blueSky is a perfect choice!
Are you planning to update the Timeline pedal as well anytime soon?
Unfortunately we don’t discuss future product plans, sorry about that!
Are the new versions of the blue sky and el capitain an upgrade in sound quality or is it more just a different user interface ?
Will there be an preset editor/librarian app for the v2 pedals? If so, when?
There’s one coming down the road, yep! Currently no timeframe for it though, sorry about that.
Are there v2 models off the Big Pedals (bigsky) on the way?
Thanks for the interest, Daniel! Unfortunately, we do not publicly discuss future product plans. Stay tuned to our newsletter for future product updates!
Vorrei capire cosa cambia tra il flint nuovo e la vecchia versione ho visto che si può mettere un pedale d espressione ma si può fare in tutte e due le versioni?
My beloved Strymon Flint has sputtered and fizzled and died.
Where can I have it repaired ? I can’t afford the new one yet.
Its the one pedal I can’t live without. Thanks for your help.

Hey Sunny! Shoot us an email to [email protected] and we’ll get you taken care of. Thanks!
Is the Lex the same modeling as the rotary in the Mobius?
Hey there! Lex’s algorithm is slightly different, and has features that the Mobius’s Rotary algorithm doesn’t have, for example bi-amp mode, cab direction, and hold for brake options. Those features are available on the Lex pedal exclusively.
