How do I set up my Strymon pedal to work with MultiSwitch Plus?

This is a quick reference for setting up your connected Strymon pedals to work with MultiSwitch Plus. Please see this FAQ for additional details on setting MultiSwitch Plus to different modes of operation.

PRESET Mode

Preset mode is compatible with blueSky V2, Brig, cloudburst, Deco V2, DIG V2, El Capistan V2, Flint V2 Iridium, Lex V2, Nightsky, Riverside, Sunset, Ultraviolet, Volante, and Zelzah.

Note that all pedals need to be set to MIDI CH 1 and MIDI OUT set to GREEN or AMBER for Preset Mode.

blueSky V2
- Press and hold the FAV footswitch while connecting power to the pedal. Hold until both LEDs stop blinking.
- Turn the DECAY knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the MIDI channel to Channel 1. The FAV LED should be GREEN.
- Turn the PRE-DELAY knob to select the MIDI OUT option.
- Turn the MIX knob all the way clockwise to set the EXP/MIDI jack to MIDI mode. The ON LED should be BLUE.
- Press either footswitch to exit and store the MIDI channel, the MIDI OUT setting, and the EXP/MIDI jack mode.

Brig
- Press and hold the Brig FOOTSWITCH while connecting power to the pedal. Hold for at least 2 seconds, until the LED stops blinking.
- Turn the TIME knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the MIDI CHANNEL to Channel 1. The LED should be GREEN.
- Turn the FILTER knob to select the MIDI OUT option.
- Turn the MIX knob all the way clockwise to set the EXP/MIDI jack to MIDI Mode. The LED should be BLUE.
- Press the footswitch to exit and store the MIDI Channel, the MIDI OUT setting, and the EXP/MIDI jack mode.

cloudburst
- Press and hold the cloudburst footswitch while connecting power to the pedal. Hold for at least 2 seconds, until the LED stops blinking.
- Turn the DECAY knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the MIDI CHANNEL to Channel 1. The LED should be GREEN.
- Turn the PRE-DELAY knob to select the MIDI OUT option.
- Turn the MIX knob all the way clockwise to set the EXP/MIDI jack to MIDI Mode. The LED should be BLUE.
- Press the footswitch to exit and store the MIDI Channel, the MIDI OUT setting, and the EXP/MIDI jack mode.

Deco V2
- Press and hold the TAPE SATURATION ON footswitch while connecting power to the pedal. Hold until both LEDs stop blinking.
- Turn the SATURATION knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the MIDI channel to Channel 1. The TAPE SATURATION ON LED should be GREEN.
- Turn the TONE knob to select the MIDI OUT option.
- Turn the LAG TIME knob all the way clockwise to set the EXP/MIDI jack to MIDI mode. The DOUBLETRACKER ON LED should be BLUE.
- Press either footswitch to exit and store the MIDI channel, the MIDI OUT setting, and the EXP/MIDI jack mode.

DIG V2
- Press and hold the TAP footswitch while connecting power to the pedal. Hold until both LEDs stop blinking.
- Turn the TIME knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the MIDI channel to Channel 1. The TAP LED should be GREEN.
- Turn the TONE knob to select the MIDI OUT option.
- Turn the MIX knob all the way clockwise to set the EXP/MIDI jack to MIDI mode. The ON LED should be BLUE.
- Press either footswitch to exit and store the MIDI channel, the MIDI OUT setting, and the EXP/MIDI jack mode.

El Capistan V2
- Press and hold the TAP footswitch while connecting power to the pedal. Hold until both LEDs stop blinking.
- Turn the TIME knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the MIDI channel to Channel 1. The TAP LED should be GREEN.
- Turn the TAPE AGE knob to select the MIDI OUT option.
- Turn the MIX knob all the way clockwise to set the EXP/MIDI jack to MIDI mode. The ON LED should be BLUE.
- Press either footswitch to exit and store the MIDI channel, the MIDI OUT setting, and the EXP/MIDI jack mode.
Flint V2
- Press and hold the TREMOLO ON footswitch while connecting power to the pedal. Hold until both LEDs stop blinking.
- Turn the INTENSITY knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the MIDI channel to Channel 1. The TREMOLO ON LED should be GREEN.
- Turn the DECAY knob to select the MIDI OUT option.
- Turn the MIX knob all the way clockwise to set the EXP/MIDI jack to MIDI mode. The REVERB ON LED should be BLUE.
- Press either footswitch to exit and store the MIDI channel, the MIDI OUTPUT setting, and the EXP/MIDI jack mode.

Iridium – Set the EXP/MIDI jack to DIGITAL mode.
- Press and hold the FAV footswitch while powering up the pedal.
- Release the footswitch when the pedal lights up.
- Turn the LEVEL knob until the ON LED turns BLUE to set the EXP/MIDI jack to DIGITAL mode.
- Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI jack assignment.
- Connect MultiSwitch Plus to the EXP/MIDI jack on Iridium.

Lex V2
- Press and hold the SLOW/FAST footswitch while connecting power to the pedal. Hold until both LEDs stop blinking.
- Turn the SPEED knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the MIDI channel to Channel 1. The SLOW/FAST LED should be GREEN.
- Turn the HORN LEVEL knob to select the MIDI OUT option.
- Turn the VOLUME knob all the way clockwise to set the EXP/MIDI jack to MIDI mode. The ON LED should be BLUE.
- Press either footswitch to exit and store the MIDI Channel, the MIDI OUT setting, and the EXP/MIDI jack mode.

Nightsky
- Press and hold the INFINITE footswitch while connecting power to the pedal. Once the three footswitch LEDs light up, release the footswitch.
- Turn the SPEED knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the MIDI channel to Channel 1. The ON LED should be GREEN.
- Turn the LENGTH knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the TRS MIDI OUT mode to ON. The FAVORITE LED should be GREEN.
- Turn the REVERB knob all the way clockwise to set the EXP/MIDI jack to MIDI mode. The INFINITE LED should be BLUE.
- Press the INFINITE footswitch to store these settings.

Riverside – Set the EXP jack to MIDI mode.
- Press and hold the FAVORITE footswitch while powering up the pedal.
- Release the footswitch when the pedal lights up.
- Turn the LEVEL knob until the ON LED turns BLUE to set the EXP jack mode to MIDI Mode.
- Press either footswitch to store the EXP jack assignment.
- Connect MultiSwitch Plus to the EXP jack on Riverside.

Sunset – Set the EXP jack to MIDI mode.
- Press and hold the A footswitch while powering up the pedal.
- Release the footswitch when the pedal lights up.
- Turn the LEVEL knob on the B side until the B LED turns BLUE to set the EXP jack mode to MIDI Mode.
- Press either footswitch to store the EXP jack assignment.
- Connect MultiSwitch Plus to the EXP jack on Sunset.

Volante – Set the EXP jack to MIDI mode.
- To configure the EXP jack, press and hold the TAP button while powering up Volante.
- Release the footswitch when the pedal lights up.
- Turn the ECHO LEVEL knob until the TAP LED turns BLUE.
- Press the TAP footswitch to store the EXP jack assignment.
- Connect MultiSwitch Plus to the EXP jack on Volante.

Ultraviolet
- Press and hold the UltraViolet footswitch while connecting power to the pedal. Hold for at least 2 seconds, until the LED stops blinking.
- Turn the SPEED knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the MIDI CHANNEL to Channel 1. The LED should be GREEN.
- Turn the INTENSITY knob to select the MIDI OUT option.
- Turn the VOLUME knob all the way clockwise to set the EXP/MIDI jack to MIDI Mode. The LED should be BLUE.
- Press the footswitch to exit and store the MIDI Channel, the MIDI OUT setting, and the EXP/MIDI jack mode.

Zelzah
- Press and hold the ON (4-STAGE) footswitch while connecting power to the pedal. Hold until both LEDs stop blinking.
- Turn the SPEED (4-STAGE) knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the MIDI channel to Channel 1. The ON (4-STAGE) LED should be GREEN.
- Turn the MIX knob to select the MIDI OUT option.
- Turn the SPEED (6-STAGE) knob all the way clockwise to set the EXP/MIDI jack to MIDI mode. The ON (6-STAGE) LED should be BLUE.
- Press either footswitch to exit and store the MIDI channel, the MIDI OUT setting, and the EXP/MIDI jack mode.

Custom Mode

This mode adds remote control functionality unique to supported pedals. Currently compatible with Volante.

Volante – Set the EXP jack to SPEED or TRANSPORT modes.
- To configure the EXP jack, press and hold the TAP button while powering up Volante.
- Release the footswitch when the pedal lights up.
- Turn the ECHO LEVEL knob until the TAP LED turns PURPLE to control the SPEED switch or RED for TRANSPORT control.
- Press the TAP footswitch to store the EXP jack assignment.
- Connect MultiSwitch Plus to the EXP jack on Volante.

TimeLine, BigSky & Mobius Mode

MultiSwitch Plus works just like the original MultiSwitch with TimeLine, BigSky, and Mobius. Please see the original MultiSwitch FAQs for additional info.

TimeLine, BigSky, and Mobius
- Press and hold the VALUE encoder for a few seconds to enter the GLOBLS menu.
- Turn the VALUE encoder to select EXP MD and press the VALUE encoder once more to enter that parameter.
- Turn the VALUE encoder to select TAP, BANK, PRESET, or LOOPER (TimeLine only) mode.
- Press the TYPE encoder to exit the GLOBLS menu.
- Connect MultiSwitch Plus to the EXP jack on the pedal.

TAP, FAV, Boost & Speed Mode

Allows you use MultiSwitch Plus as 3 separate MiniSwitches with each footswitch assigned to each corresponding output.

Boost switch compatibility: Riverside

Riverside – Set the BOOST jack to Boost mode.
- Press and hold the FAVORITE footswitch at power-up.
- Release the footswitch. Turn DRIVE all the way to the right for the FAVORITE LED to light up PURPLE.
- Press the ON or FAVORITE footswitch once again to store this setting and begin using Riverside.

Tap switch compatibility: BigSky, Deco, DIG, Flint, Mobius, TimeLine, Volante

TimeLine, BigSky, and Mobius – Set the EXP jack to TAP mode.
- Press and hold the VALUE knob for at least 2 seconds to access the GLOBLS menu.
- Turn the VALUE knob until the display reads EXP MD.
- Press and release the VALUE knob again, then turn the VALUE knob to select TAP.
- Press TYPE to exit the GLOBLS menu.

Brigadier, DIG, El Capistan, and Flint – Set the EXP jack to TAP mode.
- Before powering up the pedal, set both of the toggle switches to the down position.
- Press and hold down both footswitch and connect power to the pedal while holding down the footswitches.
- Release the footswitches.

Deco – Set the EXP jack to TAP mode.
- Press and hold down both footswitch and connect power to the pedal while holding down the footswitches.
- While holding down the footswitches, turn the SATURATION knob to the 12 o’clock position.
- Release the footswitches.

Volante – Set the EXP jack to TAP mode.
- Press and hold the TAP footswitch at power up.
- Release the footswitch and turn the ECHO LEVEL knob to the left until the TAP LED lights up AMBER.
- Press the TAP footswitch to exit the setup mode.

Favorite switch compatibility: Brigadier, Deco, DIG, El Capistan, Flint, Iridium, Lex, Riverside, Sunset

Brigadier, DIG, El Capistan, Flint – Set EXP jack to FAVORITE mode.
- Before powering up the pedal, set both of the toggle switches to the middle position.
- Press and hold down both footswitch and connect power to the pedal while holding down the footswitches.
- Release the footswitches.
Saving a Favorite preset: Press and hold BYPASS for a few seconds to save a new Favorite setting.
- For Flint, press and hold the REVERB BYPASS to save a new Favorite setting.

Deco – Set EXP jack to Favorite mode.
- Press and hold down both footswitch and connect power to the pedal while holding down the footswitches.
- While holding down the footswitches, turn the SATURATION knob all the way to the right.
- Release the footswitches.
Saving a Favorite preset: Press and hold the TAPE SATURATION BYPASS for a few seconds to save a new Favorite setting.

Lex – Set the EXP jack to Favorite or Speed modes.
- Press and hold down both footswitch and connect power to the pedal while holding down the footswitches.
- While holding down the footswitches:
  - Turn the FAST ROTOR SPEED knob full clockwise for Favorite EXP mode.
  - Turn the FAST ROTOR SPEED knob to 12 o’clock for SPEED switch EXP mode.
- Release the footswitches.
Saving a Favorite preset: Press and hold BYPASS for a few seconds to save a new Favorite setting.

Iridium – Set the EXP/MIDI jack to External Favorite mode.
- Press and hold the FAV footswitch at power-up.
- Release the footswitch. Turn the LEVEL knob until the ON LED turns PURPLE.
- Press the ON or FAV footswitch once again to store this setting and begin using Iridium.
- ***NOTE: The on-board FAV switch is disabled when set to External Favorite mode.***
Saving a Favorite preset: Press and hold FAV for a few seconds to save a new Favorite setting.

Riverside – Set the EXP Jack to Favorite mode.
- Press and hold the FAVORITE footswitch at power-up.
- Release the footswitch. Turn the LEVEL knob just past the 12 o’clock position for the FAVORITE LED to light up AMBER.
- Press the ON or FAVORITE footswitch once again to store this setting and begin using Riverside.
- ***NOTE: The on-board FAV switch is disabled when set to External Favorite mode.***
Saving a Favorite preset: Press and hold FAVORITE for a few seconds to save a new Favorite setting.

Sunset – Set the FAV Jack to Favorite mode.
- Press and hold the A footswitch at power-up.
- Release the footswitch. Turn the A side LEVEL knob all the way to the left for the A LED to light up AMBER.
- Press the A or B footswitches once again to store this setting and begin using Sunset.
Saving a Favorite preset: Press and hold the A footswitch for a few seconds to save a new Favorite setting.

Custom Mode:

Cloudburst

- Press and hold the cloudburst footswitch while connecting power to the pedal. Hold for at least 2 seconds, until the LED stops blinking.
- Turn the DECAY knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the MIDI CHANNEL to Channel 1. The LED should be GREEN.
- Turn the PRE-DELAY knob to select the MIDI OUT option.
- Turn the MIX knob all the way clockwise to set the EXP/MIDI jack to MIDI Mode. The LED should be BLUE.
- Press the footswitch to exit and store the MIDI Channel, the MIDI OUT setting, and the EXP/MIDI jack mode.

Tap on footswitch A when not illuminated to recall Preset 1. Tap when illuminated to bypass cloudburst.
Tap on footswitch B when not illuminated to recall Preset 1. Tap when illuminated to bypass cloudburst.
Use footswitch C to HOLD the reverb effect:
1. By default, the HOLD function is configured for FREEZE, while footswitch C is held (momentary switch behavior).
2. When configured for INFINITE, footswitch C toggles INFINITE mode on/off (latching switch behavior).
3. To toggle the HOLD function between FREEZE and INFINITE, press and hold the MultiSwitch Plus A+C footswitches for 1 second.

Brig

Press and hold the Brig FOOTSWITCH while connecting power to the pedal. Hold for at least 2 seconds, until the LED stops blinking.
Turn the TIME knob all the way counter-clockwise to set the MIDI CHANNEL to Channel 1. The LED should be GREEN.
Turn the FILTER knob to select the MIDI OUT option.
Turn the MIX knob all the way clockwise to set the EXP/MIDI jack to MIDI Mode. The LED should be BLUE.
Press the footswitch to exit and store the MIDI Channel, the MIDI OUT setting, and the EXP/MIDI jack mode.
Tap on footswitch A to set the TAP TEMPO rate for your Brig repeats to follow.
Press and release footswitch B to load your designated FAVORITE preset.
Press and hold footswitch C for INFINITE delay repeats while the footswitch is held.

Timeline, BigSky, & Mobius Mode:

BigSky MX

- Press and hold the VALUE encoder for 3 seconds to enter the Global Settings (GLOBAL) menu.
- Set MIDI CHANNEL to Channel 1
- Set EXP MODE to either the Preset, Bank, or MIDI option, depending upon your preferred functionality, as shown in the table below.

Tap Mode:

Ultraviolet

Press and hold the footswitch for at least 2 seconds while powering up UltraViolet. Once the LED flashes RED, release the footswitch.
Turn the VOLUME knob until LED lights up RED.
Press the footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

Brig

Press and hold the FOOTSWITCH for at least 2 seconds while powering up Brig. Once the LED flashes RED, release the footswitch.
Turn the MIX knob until LED lights up RED.
Press the footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

Zelzah

Press and hold the ON (4-Stage) footswitch while powering up Zelzah. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the SPEED (6-STAGE) knob until the ON (6-STAGE) LED lights up RED.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

Deco V2

Press and hold the TAPE SATURATION ON footswitch while powering up Deco. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the LAG TIME knob until the DOUBLETRACKER ON LED lights up RED.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

DIG V2

Press and hold the TAP footswitch while powering up DIG. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the MIX knob until the ON LED lights up RED.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

El Cap V2

Press and hold the TAP footswitch while powering up El Capistan. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the MIX knob until the ON LED lights up RED.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

Flint V2

Press and hold the TREMOLO ON footswitch while powering up Flint. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the MIX knob until the REVERB ON LED lights up RED.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

Lex V2

Press and hold the SLOW/FAST footswitch while powering up Lex. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the VOLUME knob until the ON LED lights up RED.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

Favorite Mode:

Ultraviolet

Press and hold the footswitch for at least 2 seconds while powering up UltraViolet. Once the LED flashes RED, release the footswitch.
Turn the VOLUME knob until LED lights up AMBER.
Press the footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

Brig

Press and hold the FOOTSWITCH for at least 2 seconds while powering up Brig. Once the LED flashes RED, release the footswitch.
Turn the MIX knob until LED lights up AMBER.
Press the footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

Cloudburst

Press and hold the footswitch for at least 2 seconds while powering up cloudburst. Once the LED flashes, release the footswitch.
Turn the MIX knob until LED lights up AMBER.
Press the footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

Zelzah

Press and hold the ON (4-Stage) footswitch while powering up Zelzah. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the SPEED (6-STAGE) knob until the ON (6-STAGE) LED lights up AMBER.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

blueSky V2

Press and hold the FAV footswitch while powering up blueSky. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the MIX knob until the ON LED lights up AMBER.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

Deco V2

Press and hold the TAPE SATURATION ON footswitch while powering up Deco. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the LAG TIME knob until the DOUBLETRACKER ON LED lights up AMBER.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

DIG V2

Press and hold the TAP footswitch while powering up DIG. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the MIX knob until the ON LED lights up AMBER.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

El Cap V2

Press and hold the TAP footswitch while powering up El Capistan. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the MIX knob until the ON LED lights up AMBER.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

Flint V2

Press and hold the TREMOLO ON footswitch while powering up Flint. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the MIX knob until the REVERB ON LED lights up AMBER.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

Lex V2

Press and hold the SLOW/FAST footswitch while powering up Lex. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the VOLUME knob until the ON LED lights up RED.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.

Speed Mode:

Lex V2

Press and hold the SLOW/FAST footswitch while powering up Lex. Once both LEDs flash, release the footswitch.
Turn the VOLUME knob until the ON LED lights up PURPLE.
Press either footswitch to store the EXP/MIDI Jack Mode.
