Artist Feature: Modular Synths

Strymon and Modular SynthAs many of you already know, Strymon pedals aren’t just for guitar. Many keyboardists, bassists, vocalists and also modular synth musicians use Strymon. We have gathered together some of our favorite modular synth posts to share with you.

Alessandro Cortini works his magic in this video below, but don’t stop there! He just released his new album “Force 3” and it’s fantastic.

Atomic Shadow‘s “command center” is something dreams are made of. You can check it out in his video here. But below we are featuring a darker, eerie tune that Atomic Shadow has created.

Julian Taquechel, AKA Taqo, can get you moving. I’m anticipating an album from him, because all these 15 second Instagrams are too good. Since we only get 15 seconds, I’ve chosen two to feature, but head over to his Instagram for a bunch more 🙂

It was hard to choose which John L Rice song to feature. I ended up with this one because it’s got the wonderful music, but also the fun of being able to enjoy it in different way. I suggest the first time you watch, get drawn in and mesmerized from visuals and the music. The second time, start hitting pause and enjoy as John L Rice says “the ‘faces’ of the ‘spirits'”

Get a glimpse into music-making with modular synths. Richard Devine has the camera set perfectly to not only enjoy the song, but really see what’s going on to create the sounds.

Sleepwalk/Noctambulance can be found on Instagram, Vine and Soundcloud always creating interesting musical pieces. Here is a taste of some of Sleepwalk’s creativity.

And last but not least is Deepak Singh, taking everyone on a journey through twists and turns with this piece “Wobbling Eurorack.”

  1. Wow, thank you for including me in your Modular Synths blog article! It is an honor to be recognized by Strymon and to be included among so many wonderful musicians! 🙂 The Mobius and BigSky pedals are inspiring creative tools and my setup will be complete once I can get a Deco and an El Capistan (again)!

    1. Thanks, again, really appreciate hearing your songs and seeing your videos. Always looking forward to more 🙂

  2. Please please please please pleeeease bring out some of your stuff in Euro format! Make a Big Sky and Timeline with loads of CV parameters and you’ve got yourself an instant purchase from me.

    1. Hi JB, We don’t discuss what might or might not be in the works, but we love hearing all the feedback and really appreciate you taking the time to let us know! 😀 Thanks!

  3. As someone trying to put their first modular together on a minimum wage budget in San Francisco it’s always amazing to me to hear the great Ambient stuff coming out in articles like this – thankfully I am not scared of DIY and have a few things like an Acess Virus A and Nord Rack 2 to help fill in the blanks as I make initial decisions (it also helps that my mother in law is going to help me with a Behringer Neutron to interface with the system – allowing me to focus on sound modification modules and not worry about building up a synth first)

Also Skinny Puppy? YUUUSSS. One of my all time favorites

    1. Hi Dylan, Please share when you get your rack together. Would love to see and hear it 🙂 Always nice to meet a fellow Skinny Puppy fan! Take care, Angela
