Zuma Power Supply

Did you know that whale watching season is upon us for the US West Coast? Between that and getting ready to release our Zuma and Ojai power supplies, it’s fair to say that for us West Coast-based Strymon folks, the ocean is never far from our minds.

So what inspired us to name our power supply “Zuma?” Zuma Beach in Malibu is known for some of the best surfing and cleanest water along the California coast. Its expansive, gently sloping, rock-free white sand allows plenty of room for sun bathing and walking out far into the Pacific while still touching bottom. The first people to live in Malibu were the Chumash Indians, and the name “Zuma” comes from the Chumash word for “abundance.” Zuma Beach is also very close to Point Dume, a popular hangout for sea lions this time of year, as well as for people who want to watch migrating whales. There are abundant wild flowers in bloom at the Point Dume Nature Reserve right now, too!

To celebrate the beach, the ocean, their wildlife, and the upcoming release of our Zuma and Ojai power supplies, we are announcing our Ocean Sounds Contest. Share a video of your best ocean or beach inspired sounds and music made with your favorite gear, and you could win a prize package including a brand new Zuma, BigSky, and a Strymon t-shirt!

  • One Strymon T-shirt ($15 value)

HOW TO ENTER:

Post a video to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, or Youtube of your best ocean or beach-inspired sounds or music made with your favorite gear, created and posted between March 11 – April 11 2016, and include the hashtag #StrymonOceanSounds

CONTEST RULES AND TERMS

ELIGIBILITY
This contest is open to anyone 18 years of age or older, from any country, except where prohibited by law. Contest shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the United States. This contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Entry in this contest constitutes acceptance of these official contest rules.

ENTRY
Entrants may enter the contest by posting a video “Submission” on Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Vine, or FaceBook, and label their Submission with the #StrymonOceanSounds hashtag. The video should include entrant playing and performing “ocean or beach inspired” sounds or music, and be created and posted between 12:00pm PT March 11, 2016 to 8:00pm PT April 11, 2016. If Entrant does not have access to those services, they may enter by sending their Submission to [email protected]. Entrants submitting via email will not receive an email confirmation. Entrants may submit as many videos as they wish following the submission guidelines.

SUBMISSION USAGE
Submissions remain the sole property of the Entrant. By entering the contest, Entrant grants Damage Control a non-exclusive, worldwide, and perpetual license to publish the Submissions on the Strymon website and social media pages. Entrant agrees that their details, including their name, and online username (Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Vine, FaceBook) may be published by Damage Control or made available to anyone requesting details of the winner.

CONTEST PERIOD
The contest will begin at 12:00PM, PT on March 11, 2016 and ends at 8:00PM, PDT, on April 11, 2016. Three winners will be chosen among all eligible contestants. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and will be based on execution of the contest theme. Contest Sponsor reserves the right to change the winner selection method at its sole discretion. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Winner will be subject to verification and must meet all eligibility requirements before a prize is awarded. Prize winner will be notified by comment on Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Vine, or FaceBook within (5) business days of contest end. If a winner is unreachable for three (3) business days after being contacted by Damage Control, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, potential winner will be disqualified and an alternative winner will be selected among all remaining contestants.

PRIZE
Three winners will receive: (1) Strymon Zuma high current DC power supply ($249 value), BigSky and 9V power supply ($479 value) and (1) Strymon t-shirt ($15 value).

The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entrants. Prizes come with the standard factory warranty. No substitutions, cash equivalents, or transfer of the prize is permitted. Prize will be shipped to winner at no cost. Winner is responsible for the payment of all applicable federal, state and local taxes, fees and duties. Strymon Zuma is not yet in production, and will ship to the winners in September 2016.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Damage Control is not responsible for typographical errors in any contest-related materials or for incomplete or illegible entries. Damage Control reserves the right to cancel or modify the contest if fraud or technical failures compromise the integrity of the contest. By entering, participants hold harmless Damage Control from any and all liability, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize.

  3. Love the company, love the pedals, I have 3, the Flint for reverb right now, but would love to own the BigSky. I have a Ojai on “order” with my local dealer, for when they get released, and I would hate to disappoint him if I win the Zuma, but I will take that chance 🙂 all the best, Rob

When you say you want a performance video do you want videos similar to the ones you’ve posted where the music compliments the video taken or do you want a video of me sitting in the studio working (not the most thrilling of videos I can assure you)? I live by the west coast of Scotland and I would rather incorporate footage of the power and beauty of the coastline with my music complementing it than a video of me comping yet another stem in the studio It’s up to you guys, but I know which one I would find easier to watch.

  17. I have a question: The music I submit is given to you independently of me winning? I could make an EP of new and old songs inspired by the ocean, but will they automatically be of your property or only if I win? Because I could still write many new songs especially to give them to you. The ocean is a very big influence in my Dream Pop/Shoegaze project and old indie folk projects but I wouldn’t want to give you the rights of songs that I recorded in the past just for the chance of winning.

    The other question is: Do I just have to put the Hashtag in the description or does it have to be in the title? do I have to share it here or submit it in any way?

    1. Hi, Your songs will always be your property. The only permission you are giving us is that if you win, we can link to them on our blog and social media to share the songs. We have no ownership of your creations 🙂 The hashtag can be anywhere, we just have to be able to find it, so sending the link to us is perfect.

    I have never had a reverb pedal; I sincerely Hope to have at last the “best” one: BIG sky.
